Family Portrait
Family Portrait is an album by Ross From Friends, released in 2018.
This project was realised for one of my university courses. The main objective was redesigning an already existing album, whilst taking the sound and the feeling of the music into consideration.
Additionally to the vinyl adaptation, I designed fitting merch.
I took a rather literal approach to the name Family Portraits.
I combined the eeriness of the sound with a feeling of melancholia.
For that reason I started dissecting victorian, open source family portraits. I stripped some of these character off their identity and arranged them in an entirely new family constellation.
The type covering the sleeve and the back of the hoodie is a manually distorted version of the Arial type font. The texture of the design represents the atmospheric, yet harsh sound of the album.
Brainfeeder…
is the name of the label which released the album.
Additionally to the redesign of the cover, I also redesigned the label’s logo.

The Booklet
This indie editorial features pictures of the artist, a few articles I found in the internet, a discography, stills from the “Pale Blue Dot” music video, as well as tour dates.
